Absolutely. With the UK average consumption of single-use plastic bottles at 115 bottles per person, you will break-even after only 3 months of buying the NU bottle, which means that you are basically making money after 3 months, right?

Yes, our NU bottle is 100% recyclable! This is because the bottle and the cap are made from the most recycled plastic out there (HDPE) and the silicone is easily recyclable as well.

We really hope that you never need to discard of the bottle. But if you do: to make sure that the recyclers do not accidentally put the bottle in the non-recycling bin (it drives us all nuts when they do this!), please remove the silicone from the bottle and cap and place all parts in your recycling bin.

Our bottle is made of 1/3 BPA-free OceanBound recycled plastic and new plastic (amount equal to 4 small plastic bottles) with the grip details made of silicone — all 100% recyclable.

OceanBound plastic is mismanaged plastic waste along 50km of coast lines, particularly in countries that have limited or no waste collection infrastructure. Scientific findings show that these areas are at great risk of generating land based marine debris, and if not collected the waste is highly likely to end up in our oceans. Essentially, this is the final collection point before plastic ends up in the oceans which is why it is SO important to collect it here.

Our collection partner collects the OceanBound material from all around the world, but most of the material used in the bottle comes from Central America.

When we made the NU Bottle we did not want to add a lot of fancy functions and capabilities; we wanted to create a bottle that was simple and straight forward (no education needed), to really remove the need for the single-use plastic water bottles. Hence the bottle is meant for drinking cold water. The 600ml/20oz capacity, the strong handle and the fantastic ocean pattern make it a perfect bottle for any activities where you need water, your hands free, and a brilliant world-saving statement!

Good question! We really want your bottle to stay as nice as possible and our wave pattern is a key feature for the bottle to raise awareness for our oceans. It was however really important to us that the bottle is 100% recyclable and we therefore had to use a particularly gentle ink which can come off in the recycling process. This means that in practice, chippings of the wave patterns may occur if you accidentally hit it against something hard. Remember, imperfect is the new perfect!

The bottle will come with a paper sleeve and a paper leaflet — why? Well, because we really want to empower you with more information — all made from 100% recycled paper. And the bottle will be packaged in a box made from 100% recycled cardboard, with all materials being 100% recyclable.

Please clean the bottle as often as you need between uses. This is really easy as the bottle is dishwasher-safe (upper shelf), but also loves a good manual scrub. For the dishwasher, just unscrew the cap and place in the machine. For hand wash, we recommend using lukewarm water and soap, fill the bottle half full with water, shake it about (yes, like a bartender shaking a cosmo), rinse, air dry and store with the cap off.

We accept returns up to 30 days after delivery with a proof of purchase. As long as the bottle(s) has not been used, we will issue a full refund once we have received and inspected the item at the warehouse. Please note that you will need to cover the cost of the return.
